If you feel plagued by fine lines and wrinkles on your forehead, near the eyes and mouth, or anywhere else on your face, you’ve come to the right place. Here at Sarah Laser Center & Medspa we offer multiple skincare treatments targeted specifically at reducing wrinkles, firming, and tightening the skin. In this article we will discuss how and why wrinkles form and the various solutions we offer to help you reclaim your youthful complexion.
Of course, don’t expect immediate results. Wait for your skin to heal and renew itself. It will take some time but eventually, you will certainly be more than satisfied with your younger looking skin.
How and Why do Wrinkles Form?
Before we get into the solutions lets talk about why wrinkles form. There are many different factors that can cause wrinkles, that’s why not all wrinkles are the same and not all people of the same age will have the same amount or depth of wrinkles and/or fine lines.
The main factor (unsurprisingly) is age. Typically, older people will have more wrinkles than younger people. This is because the two main proteins that are the key to young looking skin tend to be produced less by our body as we age. These proteins are collagen and elastin.
- Collagen is mainly responsible for creating stronger, thicker, and firmer skin.
- Elastin promotes your skin’s elasticity, enabling it to stretch and snap back
When we’re young we have no problem producing these proteins, but as we age our bodies produce less and less, this causes our skin to be weaker, saggier, more frigid, and more brittle. This combined with gravity and repeated facial expressions leads to wrinkles, especially around the eyes, forehead and mouth.
Another factor that can lead to an increased amount of wrinkles is sun exposure. When we expose our skin to the sun frequently not only does our skin loose moisture, but we also loose collagen at a much faster rate. This is why some people as young as 20 already have wrinkles, too much sun exposure, not enough sunscreen. So think about that next time you want to get a tan. The third factor that leads to wrinkle formation is free radicals. These are basically very unstable molecules that can damage your cells when there’s too many of them. They can be produced and handled naturally by the body, but the real problem occurs when you’re exposed to an abundance of them through things like pollution, UV radiation, and cigarette smoke. When there are too many free radicals in the skin it can lead to premature aging by causing oxidative damage. Oxidative damage hurts the key proteins (collagen, elastin) and the skin cell itself, speeding up wrinkle formation. (To read about how vitamin C can protect you from free radicals click here.)
These are the most common factors that lead to wrinkle formation, there are many others that could make a small difference in the amount of wrinkles you have, but these are the main three.
The Solutions
Okay, so now you know about the 3 main factors that can lead to wrinkles, but what can possibly finally free your face of them or at least reduce their appearance? At Sarah Laser Center & Medspa we offer a variety of facials and other medical grade treatments that will give you smooth, youthful looking skin. Below you will see our proven treatments that will reduce or erase wrinkles leaving you looking young, rejuvenated, and radiant.
Microneedling
Microneedling is very effective at reducing wrinkles because it creates tiny micro-injuries on the surface of your skin which triggers the body’s natural healing process to produce more collagen. Remember collagen? It’s the protein we talked about above that is the key to youthful, wrinkle free skin. So this treatment gives great results and firms skin to reduce or erase even deep wrinkles. Because microneedling stimulates the body’s own natural healing process the results are very natural looking.
Microneedling is also a great for treating wrinkles because it opens up channels within the skin that give PRP—the healing factors in your own blood—and skin care products direct access to deeper layers of the skin where they’re needed most, giving you the most rejuvenating skin care experience possible.

IPL Photofacial
The goal of the IPL Photofacial is very similar to microneedling, to stimulate collagen production below the surface of the skin to promote rejuvenation and healing. The difference is that IPL uses light energy to stimulate the collagen, while microneedling takes a more physical approach. The collagen produced because of the IPL photofacial’s laser energy will promote a lifting and tightening effect on the skin, which will smooth out wrinkles.
Over time multiple sessions of the IPL Photofacial will drastically reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
Many of our facials combine IPL with other treatments which will lead to even better results, to see our medical grade facials menu click here.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a treatment that involves deep exfoliation with a diamond head wand, it sloughs off dead skin cells and other debris that may be clogging your pores, leaving your skin looking softer and brighter. This treatment may not be as effective for treating deep wrinkles, but it will improve your overall skin appearance and fade imperfections. This treatment is especially effective for treating hyperpigmentation or uneven skin tone, and reduces the appearance of wrinkles that aren’t very deep.
Most of our facials start with microdermabrasion, allowing any products or other treatments applied after to penetrate into the deep layers of the skin. To see our medical grade facials menu click here.
