Microneedling
Collagen Induction Therapy
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. This device is used to create tiny punctures in the skin to form a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a micro-channel that triggers the body’s natural wound healing process to produce new collagen and elastin, the key to youthful looking skin.
Through this process you will see results such as an improvement in skin texture and firmness, reduction in scars (including acne scars), softer wrinkles and fine lines, evening in hyper-pigmentation, smaller pore size, and less visible stretch marks.
Stop Aging In Its Tracks
As we age our skins’ natural production of collagen and elastin starts to slow down, resulting in wrinkles, crows feet, and fine lines. Microneedling stimulates the body’s natural healing processes and helps produce collagen, which tightens the skin to reduce these signs of aging.

Reversing Sun Damage
The collagen production promoted by microneedling can improve the look of skin in many more ways than just reducing wrinkles. It can also reverse sun damage and discoloration, including the hyperpigmentation that comes with melasma.
Safe & Virtually Painless
At Sarah Laser Center & Medspa we have the resources and properly trained medical estheticians to ensure that your microneedling experience is safe, comfortable, effective, and as pain-free as possible. We provide a clean, sterile environment that drastically reduces any possible risks. A topical numbing cream will be applied prior to any treatment to make your experience a pleasant, relaxing one.
Beneath the Surface
Because microneedling creates micro-channels on the surface layer of skin, any serums or other products used during and after the treatment will be able to penetrate deep into the dermis, allowing your skin to benefit from the full effects of any product. When applying product normally, only about 4%-8% actually penetrates into your skin, during and right after microneedling this number jumps to an impressive 80%, this is why our treatment includes the application of growth serums to make the session as effective and rejuvenating as possible.
Before & After
For deep wrinkles, advanced photo- aging, stretch marks or acne scars, a series of 6-8 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart is suggested for optimal results. After the initial series, microneedling can be done once per year as a skin maintenance procedure.
Microneedling can be safely preformed on all skin types and skin colors, and in any area.
Frequently asked questions
Is Microneedling Safe?
Microneedling is a safe skin treatment when performed by a medical aesthetician, nurse, or physician, this treatment is safest being done in a sterile manner in a clinical environment.
Is Microneedling Painful?
Topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment areas, making this a virtually pain-free treatment.
What Will I Look Like After The Treatment?
Most people will experience redness and mild swelling in a similar way as mild sunburn and there may be minimal pinpoint bleeding and/or bruising. Then you will notice that your skin is smoother and more radiant looking but the full effects won’t be seen until later.
What Is The Down Time After A Microneedling Treatment?
The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pinkish. In order to reduce visible redness, we recommend hyaluronic acid after the procedure, and to protect the skin with SPF 50+ sunblock while outdoors.
What Effects Do Microneedling Have On The Skin?
- Improves skin texture and reduces the appearance of wrinkles
- Stimulates tissue regeneration
- Acne scars can be improved as new collagen elevates the depressed scar tissue
- Pore size reduction
- Improves the appearance of stretch marks
Who Needs Microneedling?
Microneedling is a great option for those wanting laser skin resurfacing but looking for an option with little to no down time. Microneedling removes the top layer of the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin growth, while smoothing the skin, shrinking pores, evening hyper-pigmentation, smoothing fine lines, wrinkles, and more. Best results are seen with three to five treatments, spaced about four weeks apart.
How Many Treatments Do I Need And How Often Can Microneedling Be Repeated?
Microneedling can be safely repeated until you achieve the desired results. For collagen induction we recommend to start with 3 treatments. The number of treatments required will depend on how each individual responds to the treatments, and the extent of the damage. Microneedling can be used on multiple parts of the body (neck, décolleté, arms, legs, etc.) Most people will begin to see results after the first treatment.
How Long Do the Results From Microneedling Last?
Benefits and results are seen over time as the skin heals and collagen begins to build. Given proper sun protection and home exfoliation, results can be seen for months. Touch up treatments are recommended every year.
Is Microneedling Affordable?
Microneedling is very affordable. We price our services competitively. Our goal is to make our services available to all so you can lead a happier and more beautiful life.
How Long Is A Microneedling Session?
Depending on the number of areas being treated, the appointment can take between 30 minutes to over an hour, not including numbing time.
What Is The Post Treatment For Microneedling?
There is no recovery or down time with this treatment. You can return to normal activities right after your appointment. It is recommended to let the skin rest until the next day, then makeup, gentle face wash, and moisturizer can be used.
What Should I Avoid On My Skin After Treatment?
To ensure the ideal healing, do not use products with AHA’s, retinol, or acidic ingredients. Exposure to sun should also be avoided and sunblock should be used.
What Should I Expect?
Prior to the procedure a topical anesthetic agent will be applied and the area to be treated will then be thoroughly cleansed. Microneedling will then be performed on the desired area of the skin. The goal is to cause pinpoint bleeding or a “micro-injury” in order to stimulate collagen production. After the procedure your skin will have a red-pink tone and you will begin to peel within 24-72 hours.
